T00-T07: Injuries involving multiple body regions

T05: Traumatic amputations involving multiple body regions

Traumatic amputations involving multiple body regions refer to a group of conditions where a person loses more than one body part as a result of a serious injury. This sort of traumatic event is usually due to severe accidents, such as those involving machinery, explosions, motor vehicle accidents, or war-related injuries. Upon occurrence, symptoms can include intense pain, bleeding, and shock. Subsequently, the wound area may present signs of infection including redness, swelling, and pus discharge. The most commonly affected body regions include the arms and legs, although any external part of the body may be involved. The progression of conditions post-amputation largely depends on the severity of the trauma and the speed and effectiveness of emergency medical care received. Possible issues to contend with may include phantom limb pain, depression, and difficulty adapting to physical changes after the amputation.
