T05: Traumatic amputations involving multiple body regions
T05.4: Traumatic amputation of one foot and other leg [any level, except foot]
Traumatic amputation of one foot and another leg refers to the complete loss of these limbs due to a traumatic event. This means that, due to injury, the foot has been separated from the body entirely, and in the same event, so has a portion of the other leg (the level of which could be anywhere from the toes to the hip, but does not include the other foot). This type of injury usually occurs as a result of severe accidents, such as those involving heavy machinery, vehicle collisions, or natural disasters. Major symptoms of such an injury are immediate and severe pain, heavy bleeding, and shock. Beyond the immediate physical impact, this condition can have a significant effect on an individual’s mobility and daily life functioning.
