I10-I15: Hypertensive diseases

I13: Hypertensive heart and renal disease

Hypertensive heart and renal disease refers to a group of conditions where both the heart and kidneys are damaged due to long-term high blood pressure. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, exerts additional force against the walls of your blood vessels, which over time can cause them to weaken or stiffen. This extra strain affects the heart and the kidneys as they continuously work harder. This combination of stressors can lead to various forms of heart disease and kidney conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, and renal failure. Common symptoms include fatigue, irregular heartbeat, fluid buildup leading to swelling, breathlessness, and frequent urination, especially at night. These conditions typically progress gradually, often without noticeable symptoms until significant organ damage has occurred.
