II: Neoplasms

D37-D48: Neoplasms of uncertain or unknown behaviour

Neoplasms of uncertain or unknown behavior describe a group of conditions where the growths in the body show abnormal and unpredictable patterns. These growths, called neoplasms, can occur in various parts of the body – from the digestive and urinary systems to parts of the skin and connective tissues. Such neoplasms aren't definitively known to be either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Common symptoms vary depending on where the neoplasm is located, but they can often cause discomfort, swelling or changes in bodily function. This group of conditions is typically not transmitted from person to person, but arises from changes within an individual’s body cells. The progression of these diseases also varies widely, depending on factors like the type of tissue involved, the individual's overall health, and other medical conditions they may have.
