Urine flows from both kidneys into the bladder via both ureters. The urethra channels the urine outward from the bladder. These organs comprise the urinary tract. An artificial outlet from the urinary tract is an additional opening from the kidneys, ureters or urethra. An artificial outlet from the urinary tract is attached with surgery.

The urinary tract has a connection to the outside via the abdomen thanks to the artificial outlet from the urinary tract. As a result, urine is excreted directly through the skin. An artificial outlet from the urinary tract may be attached for instance if the urinary tract is constricted or obstructed. That can also occur due to a disease or injury.
