T65: Toxic effect of other and unspecified substances
T65.5: Toxic effect: Nitroglycerin and other nitric acids and esters
Poisoning with nitric acid or a related substance can be accompanied by various symptoms. The symptoms depend, for example, on how the substance got into the body.
Some of these substances can be an ingredient in medications. If you are poisoned by a medication of this type, your heart rate may increase. Your blood pressure may drop. You may have headaches and your skin may turn red.
Nitric acid and related substances are also used in industry. If you inhale nitric acid vapor, your airways may be irritated, for example. Fluid can also collect in the lungs. Breathing problems can then occur.
