T65.2: Toxic effect: Tobacco and nicotine
Tobacco is a plant. Nicotine is an active ingredient found in tobacco. For example, tobacco can be smoked or snuffed. Poisoning by tobacco or nicotine can occur if cigarettes are swallowed, for example. Poisoning can also occur if nicotine comes into contact with the skin.
Tobacco or nicotine poisoning can be accompanied by various symptoms. There can be nausea, vomiting and headaches, for example. There may also be cramp-like abdominal pains. You may also have breathing problems. Increased sweating is possible. Tobacco or nicotine poisoning can also cause circulatory problems. You may then feel dizzy or pass out.
