Q61.5: Medullary cystic kidney
There are normally 2 kidneys in the body. They filter blood and create urine. They thus help to detoxify the body. Furthermore, the kidneys regulate the blood pressure and salt content in the blood, among other things.
You have a lot of small cavities inside your kidneys. This condition can result in calcium being deposited in the cavities, causing you to get kidney stones. This can cause pain in the upper abdomen or back. Your urinary tract may also become inflamed more often. The urinary passages include the ureters, bladder and urethra. Urine flows from both kidneys into the bladder via the ureters. The urethra channels the urine outward from the bladder. If the urinary tract is inflamed, you may have fever or pain when urinating. Blood may make the urine red. However, it is also possible that you will have no symptoms at all with this disease.
