O80-O84: Delivery
The delivery group of conditions, encodes events and circumstances related to the process of childbirth. Within this group, there are conditions related to uncomplicated labor and single, as well as multiple natural childbirths. There are also categories that cover a spectrum of obstetrical traumas, such as perineal lacerations and other birth injury to a newborn. Additionally, problems related to the placenta, umbilical cord and amniotic cavity, along with obstetric emergencies like prolapse of the cord, are incorporated. These conditions can result from natural processes in childbirth or from medical procedures used during delivery. Symptoms vary widely according to the specific condition, ranging from no observable symptoms in mother or baby, to physical signs of trauma or distress. The progression of these conditions is often dependent on the skill and response of the delivering medical team. The totally affected system is the reproductive system, specifically pertaining to pregnancy and childbirth.
