N75: Diseases of Bartholin gland
N75.0: Cyst of Bartholin gland
The vagina is tubular and leads from the outside to the uterus. There are two glands at the entrance to the vagina. Each gland is roughly the size of a pea. The glands produce a fluid when you are sexually aroused.
If the fluid cannot flow out of the body properly a fluid-filled sac (cyst) forms. These fluid-filled cysts sometimes also form following inflammations.
The affected part usually becomes swollen. It may also be painful, particularly when sitting or standing.
