N45.9: Orchitis, epididymitis and epididymo-orchitis without abscess

The testicles are located outside the body, and are covered by skin. That is the scrotum. The epididymides are right next to the testicles. The sperm cells mature and are stored in the epididymes.

Your testicle or your epididymis has become inflamed. It is also possible that your testicle and epididymis have become inflamed together. An inflammation of the testicle or epididymis may be caused by pathogens, for example. Sometimes, though, no cause can be found.

This condition can cause pain in the scrotum. The scrotum may become reddened and swollen. You may also have a high temperature.
