M00-M25: Arthropathies

M05-M14: Inflammatory polyarthropathies

Inflammatory polyarthropathies describe a group of conditions where inflammation affects multiple joints in the body. The cause of these conditions varies, but they are typically associated with an abnormal response of the immune system. This group includes conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, which is an autoimmune disorder commonly identified by pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints. Over time, the inflammation caused by these conditions can lead to damage in the affected joints, eventually causing them to lose function. Common symptoms, beyond joint pain and swelling, can also include fatigue and tenderness around the affected areas. The disease progression can be gradual or rapid, depending on the individual and the specific type of inflammatory polyarthropathy. These conditions primarily affect the musculoskeletal system but can sometimes have systemic effects, impacting other parts of the body as well.
