L55-L59: Radiation-related disorders of the skin and subcutaneous tissue

Radiation-related disorders of the skin and subcutaneous tissue generally refer to a group of conditions that result from exposure to various forms of radiation. This exposure, often from radiation therapy or from the environment, affects the skin and the layers of soft tissue just beneath the skin. Symptoms of these conditions commonly include redness, itchiness, peeling, dryness, and in more severe cases, open sores or skin necrosis. These disorders can also cause changes in skin color, known as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. The progression of these conditions can vary greatly, depending on many factors such as the type and amount of radiation the person was exposed to, the individual's overall health, and the area of the body involved. Typically, the symptoms begin to appear shortly after exposure and can escalate over time if left unchecked.
