L10: Pemphigus

L10.5: Drug-induced pemphigus

The immune system normally protects the body against pathogens and foreign substances. With some disorders, however, parts of the immune system target the body's own tissue or cells. You have a disorder that means your immune system is attacking certain components in your skin. In your case, the disorder has been caused by certain medication.

The disorder involves blisters forming on the skin or on mucous membrane. The blisters often burst very easily. Wounds then form in the affected places, too. Sometimes the skin is also red and flaky.
