L10.2: Pemphigus foliaceus
The immune system normally protects the body against pathogens and foreign substances. With some disorders, however, parts of the immune system target the body's own tissue or cells. You have a disorder that means your immune system is attacking certain components in your skin. The precise cause of the condition is not known. The disorder is sometimes made worse by sunlight.
The disorder involves blisters forming on the skin. The blisters often burst very easily. Wounds then form in the affected places, too. Sometimes the skin is also red and flaky.
Skin on the face and scalp is often affected.
