G81: Hemiplegia

G81.1: Spastic hemiplegia

You can only move one side of your body with difficulty, or not at all. This is because your muscles are partially or fully paralyzed on the affected side of your body. Your muscles have gone into spasm as a result. In other words, your muscles are in constant tension. The affected muscles can then only be moved against resistance.

Many nerves run from the spinal cord and brain to the organs, skin and muscles in the body. The muscles are controlled by the nerves. A paralysis occurs, for example, when the brain, the spinal cord or the nerves are damaged. This can happen due to an injury or another disorder, for example.
