G57.9: Mononeuropathy of lower limb, unspecified
Various nerves run through the leg. These nerves control various muscles in the leg. They are used to move the leg and the foot. The nerves are also responsible for sensation in the leg and foot.
When a nerve is damaged, it can cause pain, tingling or a numbness in the leg or foot, for example. It may also no longer be possible to move the leg or foot so well.
A nerve may be damaged due to injuries or to pressure on it, for example. The damage may be lasting or temporary.
