G57: Mononeuropathies of lower limb
G57.1: Meralgia paraesthetica
This nerve runs from the pelvis through the groin at the front and outside of the thigh. The nerve is responsible for sensation on the outer thigh.
When this nerve is damaged, it can cause pain, tingling or a numbness in the outer thigh, for example.
The sciatic nerve may be damaged as a result of pressure. For example, if the nerve gets trapped in the groin area, pressure builds on the nerve. The damage may be lasting or temporary.
