F13.0: Mental and behavioural disorders due to use of sedatives or hypnotics : acute intoxication
Sedatives have a tranquilizing effect. Sedatives include, for example, the benzodiazepine group. Sleeping pills help people to sleep. Sleeping pills include, for example, the barbiturates class of drugs.
You are intoxicated because you have consumed sedatives or sleeping pills. Intoxication can alter things like your consciousness, perception, mood and behavior. You may have slurred speech or have altered memory. You may be unsteady when walking and standing, for example.
