E31: Polyglandular dysfunction

E31.9: Polyglandular dysfunction, unspecified

There are various glands in the body that produce messenger substances. The glands release these messenger substances into the blood. Messenger substances have many important tasks in the body. For example, they regulate the blood pressure, heartbeat or sugar level in the blood. If messenger substances in the body have changed, the skin and hair may also be changed. The height may be changed as well. Glands that produce messenger substances are for instance the thyroid gland, pancreas and ovaries or testicles. In your case, two or more glands are not working correctly.

Because you have too many or too few messenger substances in your body, you may have various symptoms.
