B45.2: Cutaneous cryptococcosis
You have been infected by certain pathogens in the cryptococcosis group. Cryptococci are yeasty fungi. These fungi occur in bird droppings, for example. The fungi can get into your skin via wounds.
These germs then cause cryptococcosis if the defense system is weak, in particular. The immune system can be weakened by another illness, for example, or by a treatment. If you are infected with the germs, the symptoms usually only appear after several months.
The germs have propagated in your skin. This usually causes red nodules or thickenings on the skin. These changes may also look flaky or crusty.
