Z94: Transplanted organ and tissue status

Z94.2: Lung transplant status

When an organ is transplanted, a diseased or missing organ is replaced by a healthy one.

You need lungs to breathe. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.

If a lung is transplanted, the healthy lung comes from another person. The whole lung or just part of the lung can be transplanted.
