Z13: Special screening examination for other diseases and disorders
Z13.7: Special screening examination for congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities
The examination was to see whether you have certain congenital diseases, which means conditions you were born with. In the course of this, you may be examined to determine whether all areas of your body developed normally. Sometimes your blood will be examined to see whether your chromosomes are changed. Somatic cells usually hold a complete blueprint of your body. This blueprint consists of genetic information. The genetic information is encrypted in the chromosomes. In humans, somatic cells usually have 23 pairs of chromosome, so 46 chromosomes in all.
