Y91: Evidence of alcohol involvement determined by level of intoxication
Y91.0: Mild alcohol intoxication
Mild alcohol intoxication is a condition that results from consuming alcohol in small to moderate amounts where the level of alcohol in the blood is still below levels that could lead to severe impairment. Individuals with mild alcohol intoxication may experience a slight change in mood, perhaps becoming more outgoing or taking fewer inhibitions. They may also experience mild physical effects such as blurred or double vision, difficulties in coordination or unsteady gait, and a slowed reaction time. As it is a direct result of alcohol consumption, the extent of impairment generally correlates with how much alcohol an individual has ingested and can vary greatly from person to person. Although it is deemed 'mild', it can still adversely affect judgement and decision-making, affecting the ability to operate machinery or drive, and increasing the likelihood of accidents or injuries.
