W57: Bitten or stung by nonvenomous insect and other nonvenomous arthropods

"Bitten or stung by nonvenomous insect and other nonvenomous arthropods" refers to a group of conditions that result from encountering insects or arthropods that do not have a venomous bite or sting but can still inflict damage. These conditions can occur after interactions with a wide variety of insects and arthropods like ants, mosquitos, spiders, ticks, beetles, or mites, among others. Transmission of these conditions only takes place when the individual has direct contact with these creatures. Common symptoms following a bite or sting from these creatures may include skin reddening, swelling, itchiness, pain or mild irritation at the bite or sting site. The progression of these conditions is typically mild, given the nonvenomous nature of these insects and arthropods. System affected is usually the integumentary system, which includes the skin and its appendages. Occasionally, the immune system may also respond, leading to general but short-living discomfort, if the individual is allergic to the bite or sting.
