W20-W49: Exposure to inanimate mechanical forces

W30: Contact with agricultural machinery

Contact with agricultural machinery refers to a group of conditions that typically occur on farms or in agricultural settings. These conditions are commonly result from accidents or misuse of various types of farming equipment such as tractors, combines, planters, balers, and other machinery. These accidents can cause a wide range of injuries, from minor cuts and scrapes to severe trauma like fractures, dislocations, or even amputations. Symptoms are largely dependent on the severity of the injury and can include pain, swelling, and loss of function in the afflicted area. Disease progression can be rapid in the case of severe injuries, especially without immediate medical intervention. Approximately 20% of all farming fatalities are attributed to machinery-related accidents. Besides physical injuries, these accidents can result in secondary conditions like infections, blood loss, and shock, affecting multiple body systems.
