T54: Toxic effect of corrosive substances
T54.1: Toxic effect: Other corrosive organic compounds
Caustic substances can get into the body in different ways. They can be inhaled, swallowed or absorbed via contact with the skin, for example. Depending on which substance is involved and on how the substances got into the body, there can be various symptoms.
For example, you may feel dizzy or get headaches. You may also pass out. Seizures may also occur. Your heart may beat too quickly, too slowly, or irregularly. If there has been contact with the skin, the skin in the relevant places may be damaged.
