Petroleum products include fuels such as gasoline, kerosene and paraffin. Lamp oil, lighter gas or liquid grill lighter may also contain petroleum products.

A substance can be absorbed into the body in different ways and result in poisoning. A substance can be inhaled, swallowed or absorbed via contact with the skin, for example. The symptoms can vary depending on how the substance got into the body.

Poisoning with a petroleum product can cause dizziness, nausea and headache. Intoxication, convulsions and apnea may also occur.
