T51.1: Toxic effect: Methanol
There are many different alcohols. These have different properties and are toxic in certain amounts.
You have poisoned yourself with methyl alcohol. Methanol is contained in cleaning materials, for example. Methanol can sometimes also be found in beverages containing alcohol if the beverage was not produced as it usual is.
If you have too much methanol in your body you may have different symptoms. It depends on how much of the substance is in the body and for how long the substance has been in the body. Severe illness is also possible. For example, you may feel nauseated or vomit. You may also have trouble speaking. Or you may move differently than normal. This includes not being able to walk normally, for example. Sometimes you can no longer see properly.
