T37: Poisoning by other systemic anti-infectives and antiparasitics

T37.2: Poisoning: Antimalarials and drugs acting on other blood protozoa

The drug acts against certain pathogens that propagate in the blood. Such pathogens include malaria agents, for example. But some such drugs are also used for other disorders, such as rheumatism.

A drug can cause poisoning if, for example, too much of it is taken. The drug may also be administered or taken by mistake.

Depending on exactly which drug has caused the poisoning, there can be different symptoms. There can be headaches or dizziness, for example. There may also be confusion. Seizures may also occur. The heart may beat too quickly, too slowly, or irregularly.
