T33: Superficial frostbite

T33.3: Superficial frostbite of abdominal wall, lower back and pelvis

Frostbite involves tissue being damaged by cold. Depending on how badly the tissue has been damaged, a distinction is drawn between superficial and deep frostbite. You have superficial frostbite on your abdomen, lower back, pelvis or behind.

With superficial frostbite, the skin may look pale or reddish-blue, and swell up. Blisters may form on the skin. The site may be painful. You may also have less sensation than normal at the site.
