T29-T32: Burns and corrosions of multiple and unspecified body regions
T32: Corrosions classified according to extent of body surface involved
The T32 group of conditions refer to corrosions, classified according to the extent of body surface involved. These corrosive injuries occur when the skin or eyes come into direct contact with strong acids, alkalis, or other chemicals or substances which can destroy your tissue. The severity and type of symptoms depend on the extent of the body surface involved and can range from reddening or peeling of the skin to more severe burns and even life-threatening complications in extreme cases. Immediate symptoms may include pain, blistering, and tissue damage. If a large portion of the body surface is involved, systemic symptoms such as low blood pressure, weak pulse, irregular heartbeat, and difficulty breathing may arise. Disease progression will depend on the extent of the corrosion and the effectiveness of immediate care received for these injuries.
Subcodes of T32:
- T32.0: Corrosions involving less than 10% of body surface
- T32.1: Corrosions involving 10-19% of body surface
- T32.2: Corrosions involving 20-29% of body surface
- T32.3: Corrosions involving 30-39% of body surface
- T32.4: Corrosions involving 40-49% of body surface
- T32.5: Corrosions involving 50-59% of body surface
- T32.6: Corrosions involving 60-69% of body surface
- T32.7: Corrosions involving 70-79% of body surface
- T32.8: Corrosions involving 80-89% of body surface
