T24: Burn and corrosion of hip and lower limb, except ankle and foot

T24.2: Burn of second degree of hip and lower limb, except ankle and foot

A burn of second degree on the hip and lower limb, except the ankle and foot, is a serious injury that involves damage to the second layer of your skin, the dermis. Second-degree burns, also known as partial thickness burns, result in white, blistered skin that can be extremely painful due to the exposure of sensitive nerve endings. The burns may result from exposure to intense heat, electricity, chemicals, or radiation. Possible signs of a second-degree burn of this nature might include swelling of the area, red or white glossy skin from fluid accumulation, and blistering. Pain intensity may vary, but it can sometimes be extremely uncomfortable. Healing can be slower due to the depth of the burn and risks include infection and potential scarring. No specific region of the lower limb is typically more susceptible to such burns, and therefore they can occur anywhere from the hip to just above the ankle.
