T23: Burn and corrosion of wrist and hand
T23.2: Burn of second degree of wrist and hand
Burn of second degree of wrist and hand is a type of skin injury characterized by damage to both the outer layer of skin (epidermis) and the layer beneath it (dermis). Typically resulting from prolonged exposure to heat, chemicals, electricity, or sunlight, this condition primarily affects the wrist and hand. Common symptoms often present as intense pain, swelling, and blister formation. The skin can appear wet or moist, be a deep red color, and may initially look white or gray when pressure is applied. In some cases, there can be a potential compromise in hand function and movement due to the affected area. Though this injury can be quite painful and serious, it is one grade less severe than a third-degree burn which involves deeper tissues like muscle or bone.
