T19: Foreign body in genitourinary tract

T19.3: Foreign body in uterus [any part]

The uterus or womb sits in the pelvis and is pear-shaped. The narrower part extends downward into the vagina and is called the cervix. When a woman is pregnant, the child grows in her uterus.

If someone has a foreign body in their womb, there can be various symptoms. The area affected may be painful, for example. When there is a foreign body in the womb, there may be a bloody and, possibly, evil-smelling discharge. If a foreign body stays in the body for a long time, inflammation and fever may occur.
