T06: Other injuries involving multiple body regions, not elsewhere classified
T06.5: Injuries of intrathoracic organs with intra-abdominal and pelvic organs
The chest is where the lungs and heart are located, for example. The aorta begins at the heart and runs downwards inside the chest. Among the abdominal organs are the liver, the stomach, the intestines, and the spleen. The aorta also passes through the abdominal cavity. The pelvis is where the bladder, rectum and internal sexual organs are located.
When someone has injured organs they may have a range of symptoms. The symptoms depend on how severely the organs are damaged. One may be in pain, for example. A damaged organ may also bleed. The blood can collect in or around the injured organ. If the bleeding is heavy, you can have circulation problems. This can be life-threatening.
