T06: Other injuries involving multiple body regions, not elsewhere classified
T06.3: Injuries of blood vessels involving multiple body regions
Blood vessels transport the blood from the heart to the different tissues and organs in the body, and back again. In so doing, they provide the tissue and organs with oxygen and nutrients, and remove waste substances.
When a blood vessel is damaged, bleeding may occur. The blood can collect in tissue. The tissue may then swell up and cause pain. If there is bleeding below the skin, bruising may result. A severe bleed or a major injury can quickly lead to a large loss of blood.
