T01.3: Open wounds involving multiple regions of lower limb(s)
Open wounds involving multiple regions of the lower limb(s) refer to injuries where the skin and underlying tissues in various areas of one or both lower extremities are damaged. This condition can occur due to many forms of trauma such as severe falls, accidents, or violence. Depending on the extent of the wound, structures like muscles, tendons, blood vessels, and nerves may also be affected. Symptoms usually comprise of pain, bleeding, and sometimes partial or complete loss of function in the injured area. In some cases, visible internal tissues or bone fragments may be seen through the wounds. Serious complications could arise if not treated promptly and correctly, including infection, loss of limb function, or other systemic issues. Such injuries typically require immediate medical care for assessment, cleaning, and closure of the wound, and sometimes surgery.
