S90: Superficial injury of ankle and foot

S90.7: Multiple superficial injuries of ankle and foot

Multiple superficial injuries of the ankle and foot refer to minor but numerous damages on the surface or skin level of these parts of the body. These injuries often result from traumas or accidents such as slipping, tripping, or dropping something on the foot. You might experience several symptoms, including minor swelling, bruising, or redness on the surface of your foot or ankle. Pain or discomfort can also be felt when you move or apply pressure to the injured area. Some people may also notice a broken skin, shallow cuts, scrapes, grazes or blisters. However, unlike deep injuries, these superficial injuries generally don't affect deeper structures like bones, muscle, or joints, and usually have a good prognosis if properly cared for. Infections are a risk if the skin is broken, but this is rarer. The progression of these injuries is typically swift, with healing occurring over a period of days to weeks, depending on the severity of the injury and individual healing capacity.
