S85: Injury of blood vessels at lower leg level

S85.4: Injury of lesser saphenous vein at lower leg level

Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart.

You have an injury to one or more veins at the back of your lower leg.

When a blood vessel is damaged, there is usually bleeding. If the bleeding is heavy, blood may collect in the tissue. You can then have leg pain. When there is bleeding below the skin, a bruise sometimes forms.
