S62.4: Multiple fractures of metacarpal bones

The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. Immediately after the forearm is the carpus. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The metacarpus forms the palm of the hand and the back of the hand. It consists of the longish metacarpal bones. The 1st metacarpal bone is located beneath the thumb. The metacarpus is attached to the fingers.

You have broken more than one metacarpal bone.

When you have broken bones, you can have pain, for example. You may then no longer be able to move your hand properly.
