S43.0: Dislocation of shoulder joint

Dislocation of the shoulder joint is a condition where the ball of your upper arm bone comes out of the cup-like socket that's part of your shoulder blade. This condition often results from a heavy blow or fall, which forcefully moves the shoulder beyond its normal range of motion. The immediate symptoms include severe pain, visible deformity of the shoulder, swelling, and inability to move the joint. Individuals may also feel numbness, weakness or tingling near the injury, specifically in the neck and arm areas. Over time, if left untreated, a dislocated shoulder can lead to recurring dislocations, instability, and impairment of movement.
