S30-S39: Injuries to the abdomen, lower back, lumbar spine and pelvis

S31: Open wound of abdomen, lower back and pelvis

Open wounds of the abdomen, lower back, and pelvis are injuries that penetrate the skin and underlying tissues in these areas of the body. These wounds occur due to trauma or injury—commonly from accidents, falls, sharp objects, industrial incidents, or violence—and can cause severe pain and bleeding. The severity of the wound can range from minor cuts or punctures to more significant injuries that can harm internal organs. Symptoms typically include immediate pain at the wound site, bleeding, and sometimes visible organs if the wound is deep. Infection is a common complication and becomes more likely if the wound is not promptly and properly cleaned and cared for. If internal organs are injured, additional complications—such as organ damage or failure—can occur.
