S13: Dislocation, sprain and strain of joints and ligaments at neck level

S13.5: Sprain and strain of thyroid region

The larynx can be seen particularly well in men as a bulging area at the front of the neck. This area is also called the Adam’s apple. The larynx is important for breathing and speaking. It consists mainly of cartilage, ligaments, and muscles. The vocal cords are also located in the larynx. In getting injured, you have strained the joints in your larynx or overstretched the ligaments in the larynx.

This happens, for example, with sudden violent movements, as in a car accident. As a result you can get neck pain, for example, or headaches.
