R77: Other abnormalities of plasma proteins
R77.0: Abnormality of albumin
Albumens are proteins in the blood to which certain substances bind. These include messengers and medications, for example. These substances can be carried through the albumins in the blood. The level of albumens in the blood can be changed if, for example there is a liver or kidney disorder.
Changes in the amount of proteins in the blood are not always pathological. When assessing a changed value it is important to take into account possible problems and other test results.
