R47: Speech disturbances, not elsewhere classified

R47.8: Other and unspecified speech disturbances

To form words, we need to move our speech muscles. If we are unable to move our speech muscles properly, we will be unable to pronounce words properly. Our speech may then sound breathy or broken. We may also have difficulties when swallowing or chewing.

If your brain is not processing speech properly, you will not be able to come up with words, for example. You may even lose the ability to speak entirely. You may also pronounce words incorrectly, or use the wrong words. You may also be unable to understand spoken or written words. You may also find it difficult to write words.
