R30: Pain associated with micturition
R30.1: Vesical tenesmus
The urethra is sealed by a sphincter muscle. This stops us passing urine involuntarily. Your sphincter muscle has cramped up. A cramp of this type can be caused by an inflammation or by a foreign body, for example. If the sphincter cramps up, it can be painful.
