Q71: Reduction defects of upper limb

Q71.4: Longitudinal reduction defect of radius

There are normally 2 bones in the forearm. These bones are called the ulna and the radius.

There may be a number of different reasons for the radial bone not being properly developed. Certain congenital diseases can lead to an underdeveloped radial bone, for example. Taking certain medication during pregnancy can result in the child’s radial bone not being properly developed. This means the child’s arm can be bent or shortened, for example.
