Q67: Congenital musculoskeletal deformities of head, face, spine and chest
Q67.1: Compression facies
Compression facies is a medical condition characterized by a distortion or abnormality in the facial features due to sustained pressure. This condition is usually present at birth and is typically caused by pressure applied to the baby's face during gestation or birth. As the baby develops in the womb, the facial bones can be subjected to unusual pressure which may distort the normal development and result in Compression facies. The presentation of this condition may vary, but it usually involves visible changes in the shape and structure of the face. The affected areas may be flattened or appear compressed, and the distortion can affect the symmetry of the face. This condition may be associated with other physical abnormalities or health issues depending on the severity and exact nature of the facial deviation.
