Q13: Congenital malformations of anterior segment of eye

Q13.4: Other congenital corneal malformations

The cornea is located at the front of the eye. It is transparent and curved. The curvature focuses light in the eye. This is vital to be able to see clearly.

While developing in the womb, many different types of tissue develop in the body. The organs and body parts develop out of the various types of tissue. If tissue fails to develop properly, defects can occur. The tissue for your cornea is changed due to a defect.

The defect of the cornea can be hereditary. Other family members can also be affected by a hereditary disorder.
